Found these on the IMDB…
“Thunderbolt”
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038171/
And the grippingly titled “Uncrating and Assembly of the P-47 Thunderbolt Airplane”
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0184976/
Second one sounds interesting in a seriously anoraky sort of way…
The second one is now on Yootoob. This a long video (about 40 minutes), but it is pretty neat seeing how they could assemble a p-47 with only strong backs and hand tools.
(At least I used the “search” feature!)

Hi Stormbird262, videos of the USN C-130F carrier landings can be found here: http://www.theaviationzone.com/factsheets/c130_forrestal.asp Scary stuff! 😮
Twenty-nine touch and goes and 21 unassisted full stop landings and 21 take offs were performed. The KC-130F used, Bu 149798, is preserved at the National Museum of naval Aviation at Pensacola.

Jan

And that footage itself came from the William Wyler(?) documentary, Thunderbolt…..
Thanks for that DDMan – I must look at my Thunderbolt video again. It WAS William Wyler’s work, by the way.

Came across this on the same site, can’t say I’ve seen it before. Would this be MH434 ?

Some of the coulour footage came from the feature film Fighter Squadron made shortly after the war. Robert Stack was in it, as I recall. Has been on shown on TV.

“Aces High”
If you liked that, you’ll love this:
Yeah baby! 😀

There’s a similar clip, with some footage the same, some different, here.
It also has a modern soundtrack I’m afraid. Much as I love Disturbed, and to a lesser extent, Bruce and the gang, I can’t help but feel that metal music isn’t quite appropriate!

It looks like a clip taken from an hour long film all in colour, called thunderbolts over the reich or similar!
Great program well worth watching,
