When fly fishing and warbirds collide….

The owner of Estes Angler in Estes Park, CO is Scottish, had an uncle in the Battle of Britain during WWII named Jim Read (Reed?), flew Spitfires….can anyone tell me anything else about him, what squadron he flew with, how many kills he had, if he survived or not? Was in the shop getting some flies for fishing today when I noticed a fly called a Spitfire, said any fly named after a fighter was good enough for me, and the conversation commenced….any help would be appreciated….
