Just read of the death of John Wellham, the last of the Taranto raid pilots.
Although not directly involved, my late father was on HMS Eagle at the time.

A brave man,makes me wonder how an “ordinary ” person becomes extraordinary,i’ve always wondered how you adapt from doing things like the Taranto raid one year and then go selling wallpaper in civvie street as a career afterwards.
