In the June edition of FlyPast we anounced we would launch and have available the MoM DVD at the AirSpace Air Show.
We have taken the decision to delay the shipping of the DVD. Towards the end of the editing process, there was a huge injection of new material into the DVD project. The team felt very strongly that this new footage should be included and rather than rush the editing, we decided to delay the production of the DVD.
We would rather delay the launch of the DVD and get it right than rush to get it ready for Sunday the 21st. As with everything else that has been done on the project to date, the DVD is being produced on a voluntary basis and everyone is working as fast as they can with out compromising the quality of the end product.
We are still launching the DVD this Sunday at Duxford’s AirSpace Air Show. We will be based on the Hurricane Society’s stand opposite the control tower. We plan to have samples of the DVD packaging and a working copy of the DVD for you to view. For orders placed on the day, you will receive a copy of the DVD that has been signed by the whole Merlins Over Malta team.
For more information on the DVD visit http://www.merlinsovermalta.com/dvd
We will also have available the last few remain MoM Corgi Collector sets.
We hope to see you at the show.

And I was at the Upper Barracca as well chatting to Jack Volwes who was Warburton’s groundcrewman during the seige. It was one of the most moving things I’ve ever seen. Seems like a forum outing without realising it. But I feel the best books on the air war over Malta were “Malta:The Hurricane Year” and “Malta:The Spitfire Year” By Christopher Shores, Brian Cull and Nicola Malizia
I think this is Jack.
Note Malta Blue Spitfire camou on the ‘Zim’.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. I am making sure that the whole team looks at this thread.
Even though the project was “completed” in September, we are still working daily on the this. The DVD is coming along very nicely. The bits I have seen do bring a lump to the throat.
We are no longer having our usual tent at any of the Duxford Air Shows. At Legends, we will be guests of the Hurricane Society in their tent opposite the control tower.
Many thanks for your support!

Merlins over Malta
May I thoroughly recommend anyone with a sense of Malta history to buy this video. I was lucky enough to be standing in Barraccas Gardens, overlooking the entrance of the Grand Harbour of Valletta, when at 6 o’clock precisely, the Spitfire and Hurricane flew in low over the Grand Harbour and gave a wonderfull and nostalgic display, bringing back the sight and sound of those two evocative aeroplanes, for the first time in 60 years.
Lumps in throats and tears in eyes were all around. The most perfect backdrop for both aircraft and a once in a lifetime experience.
Thanks to all those who strove hard to make it happen.
I must have a DVD for me and the next generation.
Well done.

Cheers, ordered my copy on that sunny ???????? very wet day at Duxford. I was standing in the Upper Barracas gardens when the pair came in over grand harbourd last September so another couple of weeks/months wont make any difference.
All i can say is that if you were not there you missed one of the best airshow/flypast moments that i have ever seen and i have been attending shows since ’78. If you werent there, buy this dvd.
…..also ordered my copy at Duxford and if it’s half as good as Clive’s talk on the adventure it’ll be worth waiting for
regards to all the team

Rob,
I was more than likely stood not far from you! 😮 I always thought that a ‘Legends’ balbo was the most emmotional aviation thing I could ever witness….until last September, it was sensational!
Read Fortress Malta! Buy this DVD!
Also at the next Duxford show the Malta team usually have a stand, go talk to them. A great bunch of people, very friendly. These guys done an amazing job!
I have the Corgi models, on my mantle piece and they always remind me of that beautiful week last September
