So, are your 8th/9th July going to be spent at Duxford or down the boozer watching the finals?
(And where is the option for posting a poll?)

Heres a suggestion shall we have a sweep on how many times from the start and during this World Cup the commentators and expert pundits mention 1966 which as if you didnt know England Won for the only time!!!
Like the Wembley stadium it was played in it is History and like the new stadium don’t expect anything other than disappointment (just climbing off soapbox now 😀
I’m not even going to guess. I know for a fact that we’ll be sick of that reference by the time we get knocked out.(Yes I am that confident) I wouldn’t mind if it was more recent and we’d won it more than once, as it is they’ll be reliving past glory rather than concentrating on the present.

No competition – DX. I frankly couldn’t care less about the football and I won’t shed any tears if England don’t make the final and in some respects hope they don’t, thus prolonging the fact that they are the most under achieving national team England has had for some time.

Surely balls are round by definition?
Rugby – Played by hooligans watched by gentlemen.
Football – Played by gentlemen (well it was) watched by hooligansGuess that makes me a watching hooligan then……
Rugby is an animals game played by (in most cases) gentlemen. The current climate in football is that the hooligans are on the pitch as well as in the stands.
I had more injuries playing football than I ever did playing rugby when I was at school. Strangely enough the injury that stopped me playing rugby happened at work.

Now if it was a toss up between Legends and Dagenham and Redbridge, that would be difficult. However Legends edges it for me.
i do have a cunning plan…..
At the moment curry’s are giving away 7inch lcd tvs with certain packages, and i just happen to want a new 42inch telly. my missus is gonna kick me up the ass when i bring that baby home.
i don’t want a crowd around my deckchair mind…
You ALWAYS get a crowd around your deckchair at Legends, that’s what it’s all about.
I’ve had a small lcd telly for years and would no doubt take it along, actually, during that abandoned September airshow at DX last year, I was quite happily sitting there watching the Test Match while all around went to pot, no-one ever asked the score though.
I once made the mistake of volunteering to help out with cub camp during the World Cup, Arkela banned me from taking a telly, but I ignored her, I took 2, despite the fact she was bigger than me.
I ended up with about 20 cubs looking over my shoulder watching England, I was not popular that day with the proper dib-dib brigade.

Hmmmm….
Ride a Harley to Legends, watch the show then swiftly back to the nearest pub to watch England win the World Cup. Add a couple of naughty blonde ladies and that’s pretty much a perfect day isn’t it? :diablo:
That’s the way to do it… 😎

I went to a soccer match in ’71, that was enough & I’ve never watched another game since. My dim sister OTOH, has a season ticket to watch Portsmouth…

DX for sure. As the rest of the world plays football and England lets them it’s an easy decision to make. Football is played with the wrong shape ball anyway.

Jesus !!!!!! My head as just popped at the massive amount of non patriotic garbage. HOPE they dont win. COME ON GERMANY THEN EH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Your obviously a johnny foreigner then 😡
No – I used to live and die football when I was younger. I am simply and totally p*ssed off with the cheating, egos and totally pathetic over-inflated salaries they are paid (which also matches their egos), which unfortunately seemed to manifest in football in this country following the increase in foreign players. I just hate the game now and couldn’t care less what happens to England, or any other football team for that matter. Give me rugby and cricket any day. At least as a rule they (rugby players and cricketers) can string a coherent sentence together without it being punctuated with “y’know” and “right” every other word. Oh, and the spectators behave themselves as well.

Bedfordshire to Duxford on a Harley! Thats ten’s of miles, it’ll never make it! 😀
By: T J Johansen - 15th May 2006 at 15:06
Probably yes, but it’s still more exciting than the other two options.
Better yet, one could ride the Harley to Legends…

I’m hoping that England will be playing that weekend – it’ll help cut down the crowds and the queues for those of us who do go to Duxford! 🙂
