Hello All,
I am seeking surviving relatives of the passengers and crew who tragically lost their lives aboard BOAC Comet G-ALYP, on 10 January, 1954, for a television documentary programme. I would also like to contact anyone involved in the 1954 Royal Aircraft Establishment investigation into the accidents involving ‘Yoke Peter’ and ‘Yoke Yoke’. This documentary programme about the 1954 Comet accidents will form part of the internationally respected science series ‘Seconds From Disaster’ for the National Geographic Channel. It is being produced by the award-winning British production company Darlow Smithson Productions.
If you have any information, please don’t hesitate to contact me by email at: nathan.haley@darlowsmithson.com.
Thank you.

I have no connection with DSP, and no reason whatever to believe it is anything other than an entirely professional TV production company.
However, writing as someone who once appeared in an aviation programme by a different company and wishes he hadn’t, may I respectfully suggest that anyone intending to co-operate in a future programme about the Comet, or any other aviation topic by any production company, first ask a few hard questions to establish that there is a genuine interest in facts, and an ability to deal with the complexity of issues arising rather than a desire to add to the sensationalism and misinformation that so often attaches to subjects like this, before getting involved.

You need to speak to Ian Thirsk at the RAF Museum who looks after the de Havilland film archive. You also need to come and visit us at Salisbury Hall, where we have the only surviving square windowed Comet, albeit rather full of junk at present, but we can sort that!

I am going to forward this thread to Stuart MacKay of the de Havilland Moth Club and de Havilland Support in case he can be of any help. If you get no reply assume he cannot.
🙂 Happy Hint: You may find you get a much better response if you write ‘de Havilland’ as I have here, as some fans can be quite pedantic about how it is written. 🙂
