B-26 Marauder 'Carolyn' (CAF)

Just a shot in the dark, but was wondering whether any of you had photos of The Commemorative Air Force’s B-26, ‘Carolyn’? I know that sadly, the aircraft crashed tragically some years ago.

There seem to be relatively few around the web although I haven’t yet had time to have an in-depth look.

Any pictures that people wouldn’t mind me printing off, would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

By coincidence I am making the Airfix kit right now. It was re-issued a month or so ago (it originally dates from 1973).

I saw the CAF aircraft in semi-rebuilt coindition at Aiorshow ’81 and even bought a baseball cap from the team who were doing the rebuilding. They werre selling regalia to raise funds. I still have the cap.

Hi Rich,

Many years ago I built the old airfix kit as Carolyn and used the very same article that MerlinPete has attached! This shot taken by Norman Peeling is from the old Osprey book ‘American Warbirds’, I have also seen photos of Carolyn in some of Peter R March CAF books.

Septic.

Hi Rich
These are two pics from a 7 page article in Flying magazine. It has quite a few good photos in it.
I used to be a member of the now-defunct Rebel Air Museum at Earls Colne in Essex, and it is probably fair to say that this was the Mecca for B26 crews returning to the UK for reunions.
It was a bolt from the blue when we lost Dave Brett, the founder / curator at such a young age, and that was the end of the museum, although the fuselage section is still displayed locally.

Anyway, I don`t have any use for the mag, so if you e-mail me I will send it to you if you wish.

Peter
