Was reading the flypast Spitfire special, and noticed Seafire II survivor MB293 mentioned. Does anyone know any more about the aircraft? From the google search I have found it was discovered in Malta, but is now in the UK according to the magazine.
Does anyone know the intentions for the remains? Show as is, or restore them?
Thanks.

I would look a little wider than the the High Wycombe area for these four.

Awaiting its turn in the High Wycombe area – owner has three more so should be keeping somebody busy!

Three more…? 😮 Let him know that I’d be willing to take one off his hands, and I won’t even charge a penny for it… 😉 😀

In keeping with the spirit of “how is this and that doing”, what is the status of the ex-Vern Schuppan Spitfire?

Its with Wes Stricker in Columbia, Missouri – he tells me he “hopes” to have it at Oshkosh this summer.
Thanks, fingers crossed then. Would make a great site.

Speaking of Seafires. How is XV PR503 coming along. There hasn’t been any news on this restoration for a while now. Is it still for sale? Does it also have a Griffon VI fitted. Another of those aircraft which seem to be under restoration for decades.
Cheers

Laurie,
Still in transit.
If it starts it will be to flying condition I am sure. It will be third in line behind the the two Mk I “kits”.
Mark
Thanks, Mark.
It will be interesting to see this one in an early colour scheme. I see there is a trace of SEAC in its history and a photo on page 533 of Spitfire – The History, when it was on trials work at Boscombe.

Welcome back, Mark. Is that a rebuild to flyable or static condition?

Thanks Mark.
I recall seeing a picture of a spitfire/seafire recovered from the sea’s off Malta a while back, think it must have been this one. Do you have any pictures you can share?
Thanks again, Sean
