Looking for pictures of Tiger Moths that have been used in films portraying other A/C. Not ones that were modified in some way, just painted up to look the part, ie The ones used in “The Blue Max” to make up the numbers!! Any body out there got any. Tried a Google but havent found much yet.

OK, not quite a film star, but all Tigers are stars to me.
Anyway, ever seen a canopy on a Tiger like this? Quite nifty, in a goldfish bowl kind of way, but if you do not like open-cockpits, maybe the Tiger ain’t for you..

Film Star Tigers
I seem to recall a film called “Emily” in the 1980s which also featured G-ANFM.

There was a Tiger Moth slightly modified to represent a fictional WW1 scout in the movie The Stunt Man – it had the front cockpit faired over, dummy machine-guns added and a general RFC paint scheme applied. It was seen to “crash” into trees in part of the movie.

I was tempted to say have you got any pics!! 😀 But we might get removed by the moderators!!
I did have one from the front of The Observer magazine from about 1997 involving the estimable Ms Scott-Thomas, underwear (and not a lot of that) but I don’t know what happened to it!
(Keeping things just within topic, it was regarding an interview about The English Patient which was a film that had a flying Tiger Moth in it…)

Thats the sort of thing, but has anyone out there got pics of these aeroplanes durring filming? We all see them on screen, surley someone took pics of them durring the filming?
There was also a flyin tiger used in the English patient, was of Italian decent, canot for the life of me remember the registration!!
Could always try a screen-grab from the DVD, if nothing else?
Interesting website, that one. Never seen it before, but it seems to be quite comprehensive.

Yes, it was assembled from unairworthy parts at Booker then shipped to the filming location.
Are you sure, it’s definately flying in the film, doesn’t look like CGI to me apart from the close ups with the devine Kristin SC’s corpse in the front cockpit, and what about the Stearman, I did make a note of the reg but can’t find it amongst my piles of paper, it was UK registered however.
We were going to watch the DVD last night but settled for ‘Highlander’ instead as my missus had never seen it and we thought that the Jaguar sequence at the end ( low flyby over Glencoe ), was a fitting tribute to the beast, anyone know the reg of that, was it at Coltishall last week, it must be the only Hollywood film where a Jaguar squadron appears in the credits, or do you know otherwise.

Aces High featured a silvery-blue Tiger Moth painted in German markings in several sequences, most notably in the first big dogfight (where it gets shot down by one of the Stampe “SE5s”).

How about ‘The English Patient’, just checked on the DVD, Moth G-AFFC, or is this a spurious registration.

Some others…
A nice Tiger in the recent “Mrs. Henderson Presents”.
A Moth in “Out of Africa”
A Tiger in the 1980 Walter Mathau/Glenda Jackson film “Hopscotch”
And some real obscure films… I think there is one is in Cliff Roberston’s “Ace Eli Roger of the Skies” and his rodeo film “JW Coop”.
