Looks as though it is a long way off the reserve yet! 😀

It was Red Arrow XP514.

😮 shouldn’t touch that one with a barge pole guys, word is the airframe is only suitable for scrap and the engine has minimal hours left on it

Well, your cheque book wasn’t big enough was it! High bid was $155,100 and did not sell. I reckon the reserve would have been $250,000.

Shock 😮 Is that Peter G’ from Carlisle ? (Breather of life into otherwise static Merlins).

Either way, thanks for the ID on that engine. 😀

Cheers….

Yes Dave, but don`t shout too loud about it, being a piston engine anorak I`m not supposed to know about paraffin-burning tube-type stuff!

I wish i had the money for that lovely bird.I wonder how much it be to ship it back to the UK.

James

If you could afford to buy it you wouldn’t be worrying about shipping costs!! 😀

It`s an Artouste, minus its generator. APU for the Victor, Trident, VC10, Belfast, Canadair CL44. I would say £500 was about right, but I wouldn`t value it at much more.

Aw nuts, wrong type of engine again; anyone know where the Bluebird Project can get a (hopefully) potentially usable air-start Orpheus 702 from please?!

If only I’d won the lottery at the weekend, as a true ex Red Arrow’s Gnat it would be nice to see it flying again in the UK.

A few months down the line and the UK will have one 🙂
