Our BoB Hurricane Dig Sunday

We would like to announce the Excavation of a Battle of Britain Hurricane tomorrow. I will keep full details back until excavation is completed.
We have carried a test dig by hand and at 1mtr come to a halt with solid metal which is somehow in fantastic condition the tail wheel assembly is like the day it was made. We wanted to carry on the excavation today but weather in Essex has halted this.
More reports later I am just of to the field now which has been meadow from year dot.

ahh yes hi Steve, now the area we had for a flying has now been put out of bounds to us due to a habitat of Water Voles’s and Adders.

Having looked at the website, I realised I visited there with some friends about three years ago, one very very wet new year, so I’ve actually seen the stuff in person! We were going to fly some models there but the surrounding ground was under water.

Hi Vultee 35
If you go to my website you can see lots of pictures of aircraft we have excavated over the years.

Shame it wasn’t true and just a joke. Much funnier than the virus I also got on April 1st that kept crashing my laptop and forced me to wipe my hard drive. Fortunately most of the stuff was backed up.

While this thread was a joke, have you actually been on a dig, and if so, do you have any pictures?

Hi HP57,
I know of quite a few BoB wrecks to excavate still and one particular Hurricane in which we were hoping to excavate a couple of years ago but the land owner is not interested in the slightest, it has been untouched since the crash in 1940! so watch this space.

OK SORRY IT WAS APRIL 1ST !! :dev2:

Colin,

Are you that desperate? :diablo:
My first reaction was that there were no BoB wrecks left as they all have been excavated in the sixties, seventies en eighties. Am I right?

Now, you owe us a full blown report of your next recovery.

Do you know much of the history of the aircraft prior to digging it out?

So is it real or not? you can tell after mid day on the 1st you know.
