Sea Harrier in Greenwich

Went past the Martime Museum by car this morning and noticed that a Sea Harrier was been assembled by the entrance. Anyone know which one and how long it is staying ?

Seaking93, thanks for the update – my mistake, re-reading the post on MSF which was titled: ‘Sea Harriers to Shawbury updated’ it now become clearer he was refering to Yeovilton movments ! ie leaving, not Shawbury arrivals….
I thought ZD582 had developed faster than light travel for a moment.

Cheers

As mentioned above ZH800 has been painted as ZH801 and is at Greenwich for a final Shar Dinner on I believe the 31st March after that it is due to remain there until moving to Cottesmore in time for 801NAS standing up on 1st October, it will then become the hangar guard.
The last ever FAA Shar landing was at Culdrose yesterday(29th) when ZE690 was delivered to the SFDO.
ZD582 arrived by road at VL yesterday for re-finishing by Serco who have been contracted by the new owner after seeing the work they had done on the VL gate guard and ZH800 and ZH801, he wanted his like them so its said.
So at the present time the VL F/A2 population is XZ499(Cobham Hall), ZD578(VL gate guard), ZD582(awaiting re-finish), ZH801(waiting road move to Cottesmore to be 800NAS hangar guard)
I think thats the current situation, unless another one has sneaked back not wanting to leave cider country

Saw on South West “Point’s West” Tuesday evening, that these “Harriers” would be available for sale…with a price tag of around £8 Million Pounds each….

UKAR have reported the Greenwich SHAR as ‘ZH801’ (which means its really ZH800)

The ’empty looking’ SHAR roadrunning on the A46 was most probably ZD582 which was reported being offloaded at RAF Shawbury on Wednesday. This had been at WSV ltd Colsterworth and was offered for auction there the end of Febuary guide price £15K ! I suspect it did not sell and has now been delivered back for another ‘tender’

Sure I saw an empty looking sea harrier on the back of a truck heading towards the M1 on the A46 near Leicester on Tuesday evening!

Rich,

You quite probably did. And with the last ever landing of a SHAR at Yeovilton on Tuesday, you’ll probably spot a few more yet.

If you do, try and cast your eyes over the serial number/s. 😀
