Death of a Trident

The Trident that has been on the fire dump at Manchester was cut up over the weekend. It must have been on the airfield for at least twenty years and was in very poor condition three years ago when I got over there to see it. When I last spoke to “Tridentman” he said he was getting the cockpit to turn into a simulator, so all is not lost.

Does anybody know who scrapped the Trident? Was it a local scrap dealer?

Sadly, the cockpit of G-ARPK was finally deemed too damaged and corroded to be restored and turned into the simulater as planned, so the aircraft was scrapped entirely.
There’s progress being made on the AVP’s Trident Three G-AWZK, but the majority is on the interior so far. Assembly of the wings, tail etc is due to begin in the near future.
For anyone interested in Tridents, the Trident Preservation Society have a website and active discussion forum devoted to the type.

Speaking of Tridents is there any progress with the one at the AVP? has any major reconstruction taken place yet or is it a case of waiting to see if the AVP will eventually have to move? If that’s the case it would seem wiser to leave her dismantled pending another move.
