F-105 cutaway
Here is a cutaway drawing of the F-105, scanned from pages 176-177 of “Fighters of the USAF” by Robert F Dorr and David Donald.
The front end of the internal bomb bay is the bulkhead level with the front-most point of the port air intake, and is shown as containing a fuel tank.

Yes, the plane had an internal bomb bay, designed for it’s original role of carrying a nuclear weapon. It could hold up to 2000 lbs of conventional stores or a 3400 lbs “special weapon”.
In Vietnam, the bay was filled with a fuel tank and external stores were carried on pylons….two under each wing and a third on the centerline.
