Airfields Long Gone

I found these old pictures of Usworth/Sunderland Airport and the NE Aircraft Museum, taken in 1982, a year before Nissan flattened the site for the car factory. Also shown here are a few of the Valetta, long before it was lost to an Arson fire.

I think only the museum gained from the loss of the airfield, aquiring the two small airfield hangars for the museums new site a few hundred yards away.

The pictues are a little grainy since they were taken on a Disc camera, in the days when a disc meant a circle of 12 off 10mm square negatives, not a CD!

Does anyone else have any photos of airfields local to them, that no longer exist?
