From Spitfire pilot to Lightning test pilot

Today’s Daily Telegraph carries an obituary for JOHN SQUIER who passed away on the 30th January.

John served with No 64 squadron during the Battle of Britain, and as a test pilot with English Electric, he was the first British pilot to eject at supersonic speed when his Lightning broke up in the air in 1959.
