Has anyone noticed that in the latest Flypast this forum is the source for 2 news articles (TFC announcment and Shack nose cone)..
So from ‘reporting news agenda’ the forum is now ‘setting the news agenda’, for some stories.. a subtle change….

TT,
Yes indeed, i had hoped Mr Rustys rescue would get noticed.
I have Flypast from day one, and in the good ‘ol days it was crammed full of group recoverys, digs, scrapyard hauls etc…
Now the yards all but gone, and wreck sites dug, these modern times see the articles based on the latest restoration to emerge from Duxford or Chino.
Aside from a coup over the ‘other’ magazine, a bit of good ol’ fashioned wreckology journalism is most welcome 😀 😀

Erm guys – I reported the Shack for three reasons, firstly to give the chaps involved a good pat on the back for their achievement and let everyone know who wasnt on the forum, secondly to publicise what they were doing (and to attract new blood to the forum) and thirdly to raise a bit of dosh to lob in their kitty – as point of order i did ask permission from Dave T et all before submitting it which am sure DT will confirm
I dont think the tenor of this thread was that the report was a problem – i think Paul was making the point that the forum was the news for once – amen to that – it is a fantastic acheivement saving the Shack…

This is something that is happeneing increasingly with fora associated with specialist publications.
you will also find news ‘journalists’ trawling the sites for stories and background – which is why it always pays to be a little circumspect with what we post, particularly in relation to and mishaps.
Then there’s Wikkipedia, completely contributor driven.
The world is changing faster than we think.

Mark V..
I think you missed the point a bit…
I wasn’t ‘having a go’ (can you see any complaint in my posting?) of course they can use the material off their own forum..
I was just pointing that it had been used (and acknowledged) as the source of the story…

As this forum is owned and operated by the publishing company who create Flpast – whats the difference? They are perfectly entitled to use it as a news source.
