My son, who I had thought was not too aviation minded, suprised me yesterday by coming home with an action packed drawing of a Lanc under heavy fire. The crew are clearly distressed – everyones got something to say! Everyone in the class had to draw something while Ravels ‘Bolero’ was played.
Anyone else got any kids drawings (perhaps your own)?

I did this during the final few months of my A-Levels.
It was a Friday during March 2002, we were pretty bored as several lessons had been cancelled on a day when we had few anyway. So, at 8:30 I decided to do a bit of drawing practice in the library, inspiration coming from the Corgi models in that years Friends of RIAT catalogue. I had one hour break for a maths lesson, mid-morning break, lunchtime and afternoon registration.
Finished the drawing half-way through the last lesson of the day, which was Physics.
Regards,
Dan

Your son had a talent Dan, clearly prodigous for a nine year old. I wish I could draw that well at the age of 29! I can offer no more except the Irish condolence – sorry for your trouble.
SeaFuryFan, your lad was never more right. My Dad bought me the Airfix Lanc to celebrate my sister’s birth when I was sixish (I think it was more for him really!) and I drew nothing else for about a year! I remember drawing machine gun fire exactly the same, as little lines of dashes, and no doubt complete with captions (some in ‘Victor’ German, ‘actung!’ ‘Gott in Himmel!’ and the like) – them were the days.
Tell him to do a Shackleton next 🙂

Dan – so good to read your first post. I heard about your loss last year so I’m especially moved. It must be so important to have things such as these to look back on. I’m keeping much of Ryan’s drawings and writing all together – not for any particular reason other then to look back on. Its nice to show stuff for like-minded people to see. Have you got any more? That’s good stuff for nine years old 🙂
He assures me it’s a Lancaster, because ‘it was the best bomber of WWII, dad’. Can’t argue with that!

I’ve made quite some when I was a kid, but they’ve been long lost now I’m afraid….
