Does anyone know the degree to which stainless steel was used on the seafire? I friend of mine used to have a rudder which had stainless ribs inside it!
Was stainless used anywhere else on the aircraft?
Thanks in advance

I have been told that the magnesium content was lower in navalised aircraft, the seafire included, for the sake of longevity.
This makes a lot of sense!
The stainless steel ribs in the rudder were a bit of a surprise to me, and I am wondering if any other airframe parts of the seafire (or sea hurricane) were stainless (usual fishplates excluded).
Cheers

There is a bit of Stainless in the Spitfire series, but not much. Some stiffeners, some odd brackets, but not much else.
