When photographing an airliner at an airport, one thing that tend to get ignored until years later are ground support vehicles that surround the airliner – vehicles with stairs, airport buses, refueling bowsers, support vans, baggage vehicles and trailers, catering trucks – all often in the livery of the airline or in the airport’s own livery. It is not until years later that these are appreciated and we now look on vehicles in the livery of BEA, BOAC, BKS, British Eagle and other well-known names that have disappeared with fond nostalgia.
I am researching some of these liveries for a well-known diecast model company, but cannot find any good photos of these vehicles, only distant shots around an airliner, as might be expected! Can anyone provide colour photos of any vehicles in British airline or airport liveries, particularly:
Morris LD van, Bedford CA van. Mini van, Ford Anglia van, Austin/Morris J2 van and minibus, Ford Transit van, Commer van & any 1950s/60s refuelling bowsers. Here are some examples that I need better photos of, front and back also.

There used to be a peculiar self-propelled bowser device at North Weald-don’t know if it is still there. It has probably fallen foul of some Health/Safety regulation.

A common sight was the Thompson (designation might be TB3 but i’m not sure) three wheeled refueller bowser, they were ex-RAF. Theres examples at Duxford and Hendon

it made me laugh the last time i went to brooklands, they had a fuel bowser there and the label said something along the lines of “Rare 1953 air transportable helicopter bowser”…we still use 2 of them in work at the moment!

C’mon Albert, i
I is bad enough being labeled as a ‘Plane Spotter’ (which I am NOT BTW) without being called an ‘Airport Vehicles Spotter’…… 😮
Ooops….. it was a momentary lapse – honest!
Ken
PS – What ‘well-known diecast model company’ would that be then?? :p
PPS – Long time no see – you still go to Smith’s ??
PPPs – See you at Milton Keynes ???
Oh no, I knew that would happen and open the floodgates for all the loonies…and you Ken! Just goes to show that these days when you go shooting aircraft, you can’t resist taking shots of other ‘aviation related’ stuff…..just in case! At a guess, I would say this is a Russian snow blower?
(PS Yes, see you at MK)
