A really difficult question about AISA

While in the UK recently I consulted the excellent set of Jane’s All the World’s Aircraft in Lincoln Public Library to update my First Flights list. Apparently an AISA (Spanish company) I-18 first flew on August 18, 1954. Now back home in Gothenburg I cannot refer to that particular volume, and have googled for this type of aircraft without result. Can anyone tell me more about this prototype/first production aircraft, please?
For example, monoplane/biplane, engine type, designer, registration – anything! I have a sneaky feeling it may have been a “typo” in that Jane’s!

I hope Hatton is going to help me out, as he lives so close to the library and I can buy him a beer later – several months later!

He is a helpful chap and not shy of good ale 😉

see PM Peter,

kind regards, Steve

Hi Consul – I already found the I-11B in another of the Jane’s, with a first flight date of October 16, 1953. I normally use Jane’s as “the gospel truth” but mistakes do occur in even such an august source!
I am using a photocopy of Jane’s First Flights page August 1 1954 – July 31 1955 as my source.
I hope Hatton is going to help me out, as he lives so close to the library and I can buy him a beer later – several months later!

Hi PL

Are you sure it wasn’t the AISA I-11B which was the Peque (known as the L.8C in SpAF service). It was developed from the I-11. First flight of the production prototype of the I-11B is quoted as Oct 15 1953 is quoted in some references. I’ve seen them in Spanish use – low wing fixed u/c bubble style canopy side by side seating. One is with the FIO organisation in Madrid (of which I was a member).

Yes, please, Steve, sorry we didn’t meet, I didn’t realise you were only yards away and I was there for several days! I will PM my address.

Peter, if you want me to take a look at that volume again then let me know. I can photocopy parts as the library is about 2 minutes from where I live!

Best Regards, Steve
