Mystery Aircraft Seat – any ideas?

Hi – I have recently come across this rather battered seat – or remains of one, which I believe to be aircraft, but have no clues as to what it may be off – does anyone here recognise it at all please?

On the seat shell it has a circular inspection stamp with “BIX 27” in it, as well as “CR1 1AJL” and “95630” . Underneath there are two alloy supports/mounts and one has “K7D9” marked on it. Finally there is a strengthening piece rivetted to the back with another circular inspection stamp with “BIX 25” in it and “95469” stamped, as well as a partially legible stamp “CL9…”

Nick…very similar to a Hurricane. The oval hole in the middle serves two purposes, one for the Sutton Harness strap and also the control locking gear pokes through it. Obviously the seat tray is for the seat type chute as Cees says. It appears to be missing some of the channel strengthening on the back

The well should make room for a seat type parachute I think.

Cheers

Not immediately identifiable Nick but it has a US air to it if you ask me….similar in construction to a P-51 or T-6 seat

The location of the ‘hole’ at the back is puzzling if it is designed to hold a harness….
