Janie – I better challenge than changing road signs would be to persuade the council that Hatfield was better as an airfield!

The Leicester event will be themed around the period 1946 – 1956. Other aircraft from the period are also welcome as are cars, motor cycles and cycles.

I think its is hoped that 60 Chipmunks will be in attendance.

Bravo! The word is spreading.

My next challenge is to get Hatfield Council to change the spelling of Gypsy Moth Way on the site of the old Hatfield Aerodrome. Wish me luck.

And you don’t want to mess with a woman’s strong principles…
P.S. Janie – Change to VAC site will be done next weekend.

How about you register on the “Chippy Forum” (www.caledonianchipmunks.co.uk

I registered on 29 August 2005, but I have no intention of posting further until the writing of ‘de Havilland’ is corrected on the website’s home page and ‘History’ page and anywhere else that it appears.

I have strong principles.

The Red Sparrows

A number of you may have seen the Chipmunk Formation Team at Boxted, Rougham and Woodchurch last year, The team was nicknamed “The Red Sparrows” and they were described as the best new display act at the recent CAA Display Pilots Seminar.

http://www.merlinsovermalta.com/images/redsparrows.jpg

The team is Howard Cook, Clive Denney, Chris Harper and Ian Davies.

If any of you are interested in having the team at your event to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Chipmunk please get in contact with me and I shall put the team in contact with you.

Thanks

Chippy Events

Thanks to you all for posting! How about you register on the “Chippy Forum” (www.caledonianchipmunks.co.uk and click on FORUM) and list your events in the “Fly-ins and Events” Section. We will probably not get to them all but it would be good to try to get a represtentative or two from our group at each event. Please tell us what you have planned – we are talking about having a small Scottish event with Tigers, Chippy’s and anything DHC/Gypsy. WIll keep you informed and THANK YOU for all your support
Chippyfan

Ooops – I forgot to say – up till now we only had heard of the Leicester gathering.

Chipmunk 60th anerverasary flyin planned for Sept 23, the day before Sywell 2006 Airshow 24th Sept. Hopping to get as many as possible to attend and stay over for the Sunday Airshow. See press and Cipy owners club for details.

Jeeze, and this forum slated Ollie for his spelling!!!! 😮

Sorry, but I had a laugh reading this post – no offence intended – must have been ‘rushed’ out hey? :diablo: 😉

I’ve already had the two organisers of the Sywell event corner me at North Weald, harrass me and not let me off the wing of my Chipmunk until I promised to attend. 😀

I’m too scared to not turn up now.

The ‘Chippy is 60’ theme will also be used at the Today’s Pilot Fly In at Tollerton on 27 August too.

Although I learned on the Chippie, for balance I had to intrude to say that it’s the Tiger Moth’s 75th this year too!!

G’day 😉

And it’s the 60th anniversary of the true civilian Auster this year as well (as opposed to the pre-war Taylorcraft Plus C and D).

Yes I’m a fan; I organised the 50th anniversary fly-in at Wellesbourne Mountford. The very best of luck for this year’s celebrations.
