I have finally located Whirlwind G-AYNP at the offices of Jet & Prop magazine in Zweilbrucken on the FRance/Germany border. Does anyone have any contacts in the region that can tell me any more of its condition?

David, try the forum in my signature. Same software as this forum so registering shouldn’t be a problem.Post your query in the “Hubschrauberforum” – writing in English is perfectly OK.

Thanks Newforest – she is significant in being one of two Whirlwinds operated from RAF Manston by Bristows. She was the reserve machine for G-AYTV in a contract that
was the first I believe to provide SAR on behalf of H.M Coastguard.
At one point I believe she was also operated from Great Yarmouth (North Denes) on offshore support operations (with G-ANFH amongst others), possibly on floats.

I am SO glad you have found it! :p In my searching for it, I caught a virus (my computer) and I was out for a week, not recommended. 😀 The town is called Zweibrucken and I will see if I can find anything more for you. 🙂
