Coventry's Forgotten Bomber

With all the talk of lifting a Whitley out of the Baltic – I find it incredibly sad that another example of AW’s manufacturing output is rotting away.
The former Sandtoft Lincoln G-APRJ built at Baginton lead a rich life in the U.K on research work and as a direct relation of the Lancaster it would be nice to see her undercover in the Midlands.

Sadly no! The engines were used in Doug Arnold’s projects -possibly even donated to the Lanc at Duxford. The undercarriage seems a little lacking and her cockpit is elsewhere in the U.K. As a project it could be done . However it needs the kind of determination that saw the Canadian Halifax restored – having said that we are not exactly awash with Lincoln’s !

I quite agree David.

I haven’t seen the airframe for years, is it all still there what with all the various moves and owners its had in the years following Southends closure.

Septic.
