I’ve always taken the ‘Fury monoplane’ as a bit of a generalisation of the fact that construction of the fuselage is similar, ie metal frame work with fabric covered main, and metal clading around the cockpit and inline engine areas.
This resulted in a generic family appearance between the two types.

The wings of course are very different.
