Auster query

Started this separately to avoid thread drift!

When I was ‘nobbut a lad’ I used to fly with the Handley Page Aero Club at Radlett. Our aircraft was Auster Aiglet G-AMZI. Does anyone have any pictures of it from the late 60s or early 70s? Any recent pics also? G-INFO suggests it is based at Biggin Hill these days. Is that statement correct would any Auster geeks happen to know?

Ta!

Thanks for that Albert. That will do very nicely on my scrapbook of ‘types flown’. I may be imagining it however I am beginning to think it may have had a small Handley Page logo on the side when it was our club aircraft. I’ll try and get hold of some of my old HP colleagues and see if I can rattle their brain cells and see if they remember.

Ask ‘Albert’?

Here it is photographed at Sywell during the PFA Rally in July 1976.

If all else fails.

A.J.Jackson photographed it. His son will sell you a print.

Very sadly Roger died suddenly over a year ago. The Collection was closed while the Family made alternative arrangements, which they have now done with The Brooklands Museum (see the homepage for more details).

I have at home a lot of Auster magazines which are due for collection by the dustman on Wednesday (need a pre Christmas chuck out to make room for the books I’ve bought myself), so will have a look for photos of the Auster concerned. I know it pops up in a few issues.
