Air Atlantique marked the 70th anniversary of the DC-3 with an event at Coventry today. Many people (myself and son included) enjoyed flights aboard G-AMRA. Although this was my 20th Gooney flight it was my first for 7 years and it was as sweet as ever. The day was b***dy freezing, but the crew, their colleagues, volunteers, re-enactors and band (which played appropriate period music) all braved the weather and made the day run well. Sadly a Short 360 burst a tyre on landing and blocked the runway for some time, which disrupted the schedule. Everyone was however kept happy with a hangar display which included a collection of model DC-3s and varients in a massive variety of schemes. Outside was an impressive static line up which included the recently acquired Canberra T.4. The hangar was shared by the BoB flight’s C-47 undergoing maintenance. Well done and thank you A-A and all concerned for today’s efforts.

17th December- 102 anniversary of powered flight (Wright brothers)
How far we have come.
In my case, not very far at all…..
Until tomorrow 🙂
The irony of today being the 102nd Anniversary of the Wright Brother’s first flight was not lost on me.

Consul.
I was there and the schedule was disrupted very badly. My Father and I were scheduled for a 14:30 flight. This slipped to at least 16:30 and possibly later. Because of this we were offered a 12:00 flight tomorrow so hopefully we’ll be off tomorrow.
The incident involving the 360 was just one of those things. I also have to thank the staff and volunteers from the Air Atlantique Classic Flight for their efforts on what turned out to be a very difficult day for them.
I look forward to meeting some of them again tomorrow morning.
Regards,
