Apologies if discussed recently, but any news on John Lewers collection ?
Several birds have flown the nest (Sea Venom, Meteor F.3 nose, Anson and i’m told Harrier T.2…. {any more ?} ), so just wondered if its just a general trim or something more drastic ?
Cheers…

You’d spend a long time looking in Loughborough. 🙂 It’s at Lutterworth.
You are very right (note to self – engage brain before using keyboard 🙁 )

Does Jet Age have one? I thought only two FSMs were built – one at Farnborough and the other at Loughborough.

Nigel,
Next time you see someone, can you ask what the status is of the floor level Lightning cockpit and especially the T.2 Harrier nose please….?
No problem Dave, I am due to meet up with them again at the begining of Feb but will try and get the info before, I’ll keep you posted.

From my recent conversation’s with several JAM volunteers, I believe that they have got to be seen to be vacating Staverton by the end of March.

The Sea Venom moved to Malta Air Museum towards the back end of last Summer.

Wow didn’t know about the replica of the Gamecock and E.28/39, looks pretty good, hope they get their Gladiator finished as well. Hope they get to re-open the museum soon

There is another being built by Jet Age using the principles of the first two.

They already have a e28/39 replica. There’s pics of its construction at www.jetagemuseum.org . Regards, Dan

Big Dan – Seems a little spooky that the Sea Venom is still with them when it has been snapped by various enthusiasts safely tucked up in the Malta Air Museum hangar since last year. I have a feeling it might be confused with the Vampire T.11!
Sorry, it would have been the Vampire. As I said I was in a bit of a rush, so I couldn’t write down all of the details and my memory isn’t as good as it should be… He said that they may either swap it for another airframe, or sell it to fund the purchase of another.

Maybe they could make a replica of an E.28/39 as well

AFAIK (I may be wrong) they have Meteor, Javelin, Gladiator (replica being built), Gamecock (also being built), Typhoon(front section) plus whatever I don’t know about.

So if the jet age museum is consolidating down to mainly Gloster aircraft, does this mean it’ll be a mostly Meteor museum? Not that i’m complaining, I love Meteors! Maybe they could make a replica of an E.28/39 as well

I fianlly got a chance to speak with John this week.
The Meteor F3 is still with them, as is the Sea Venom (although it may be going sometime).
The Bucc and Canberra are being looked at to be tranferred to other organisations (I was asked not to say where as the deals are not done yet).
The Anson has gone.
As I said in my earlier post, they are looking at consolidating down to mainly Gloster produced aircraft. Sorry if there’s not a lot more info, but I was really busy when I saw him, so I couldn’t stop for long to speak.

I believe the Buccaneer will be the next one to go

Yeah, the Vulcan is XM569 formerly of the Wales Aircraft Museum, turning into a nose section when the rest of her was scrapped. 🙁

Is that a Vulcan nose between the Bucc & Meteor ?
And i think i spied a Vampire boom ?

Visited Messier today so took the opportunity to take a couple shots ‘over the fence’.
They certainly like their Meteors!

Meteor F.3
“I seem to remember John saying that they were trimming down the NON-Gloster aircraft in the collection.”
Shame the Meteor F.3 had to go then!

I seem to remember John saying that they were trimming down the NON-Gloster aircraft in the collection. I’ll ask him when I see him next (We work for the same company) As for the building, Sorry I don’t know.

Thanks Mr G
No mention of airframe departures so i presume its either to raise some cash or trim the collection for a smaller building ?
Or both perhaps ?
