Dear All –
Our good friend and notorious Villian of the peace,Mr Damien Burke, packed away his cape and mask temporarily and has kindly just completed the overhaul of our website – which now has more details on the Beech and info on the T-6 for the first time – please do have a look at

All comments welcome

I wondered what that was…

G-ELMH had a british serial at one point in its service career.
By: TEXANTOMCAT - 6th December 2005 at 13:51
Nope it just gets jolly confusing – to my mind a T-6 is a T-6 and a Harvard is a Harvard – but perhaps I shouldnt differentiate –
The problem with the whole series is that they are a right old minefield of variants, sub variants ******** about bits and bitzers – with Harvard rear sections on SNJ centre sections and so on – as both the aircraft you cite Chris sport US schemes and are invariably described in the press as AT-6s (and externally are the same) I didnt know they were IIIs ‘underneath’….
Tony Hodgsons sports RAF markings which was at least a hint!

Nowt wrong with Harvards Martin….
By: T6flyer - 6th December 2005 at 13:45
Umm well, I…umm….dont…umm know.
No a Harvard is a Harvard whoever it was built by. Suppose the Canadian side comes into the equation as the majority of RAF examples were built by Noorduyn, but no, otherwise its all getting a bit petty, isnt it?
Most people are thinking ‘God, why does he go on about the Harvard all the time when there are Spitfires and other lovely aeroplanes out there’. Well, I’ve always liked it since I was a little kid (most have fallen out of my cot the wrong side) and to me, its just…umm…I cant explain. Each to their own, if we all liked the same thing life would be extremely boring.
Anyway a Harvard is a Harvard.

So are we saying Harvard III’s were built in California and T6-D’s in Dallas???? Yes I did use G-INFO btw…. All I was going by was that they are registered ast AT6D Harvard III’s, AT6C Harvard IIA etc.
By: TEXANTOMCAT - 6th December 2005 at 13:39
IIAs were again equivalent to the AT-6C and built by NAA.
Depends what view you take – are True HARVARDS Canadian built?
As they were constructed as AT6Cs and Ds then redesignated are they true Harvards, or Texans?
Martin, the floor is yours!

Chris did you cheat and G-INFO~!
G-BGOR is Martin Sargents old airframe – I thought it was a T-6D/G I believe and based at Sywell- Blue Max will confirm whether its a Six (it has the short pipe)
G-ELMH you would know more than I about
How tech do you wanna go –
My understanding is that the Harvard III was actually a T-6D equivalent built at NAA, rather than the IIB and IV built by Noorduyn and CCF respectively.

I did some work on G-TSIX and somehow didnt get around to finishing it, so didnt get anything there (it was my onw fault – too many projects at the same time) and as to the others, well the plan was there but never taken up..

G-BICE and G-TSIX are registered as Harvard IIA’s

Ok I’ll let you off! 😉
Think Tony Hodgson has the only III in the UK and beleive she’s up for sale – dont know of a IIA in the UK?

Umm sorry its just the way that I was brought up on the type!! Started with a Mk.IIB and then went onto MK.4s. Never ever thought much about T-6Gs as didnt think would ever have anything to do with them, as then (mid 1980s) there weren’t any around. But now have worked on a few and been lucky to have flown in two (DDMV and the usual BKRA).
Whatever their make or variant, they are all wonderful aeroplanes. Now I’m after a Mk.IIA and III to add to my list and then my favourite sub model the SNJ-6.
Well thats my excuse anyway 🙂

Very good website TT, but if I may quote you,
‘North American Aviation Inc (NAA), Dallas, Texas (many were built at their plant in Inglewood, CA but are not ‘true’ Texans’
This doesn’t tell the whole story, the only true T-6 is a Harvard! and the best of the bunch IMHO is a mark 4.
Ummm dont really want to take sides here, but as a Harvard man myself, I have to agree with AFH10 as the Mk.4 seems to be the best of the bunch. But then I’ve a soft spot for the old Mk.IIB.
