Google Earth, what can you find ?

Unfortunately the resolution varies in different parts of the UK & USA let alone other parts of the world, but you can make out aircraft types in the higher resolution areas. So what can you find ?
Be warned , it can be addictive

God knows what this is a few hundred feet above Rugeley, a small town in Staffordshire.

A few local aircraft….. including a Cessna struck in the roof of a local bar….There’s also a lump of X15 stuck to the wall inside the place.. & the patio cover out back of the place is covered in pilot signatures. Hundreds of them from many air forces…

The bar is between Edwards AFB & Plant 42 & the other pics are all Plant 42.

Can anyone tell me what this is?

35°02’10.50″N 106°37’14.96″W

I’m probably being super-thick but I haven’t a clue!

Surprisingly enough “Area 51” is there!

And there is a skin you can get that points out all the features.

Found this, thought I’d found a UK Ekranoplan! (St Athan)

And the others are not for VC-10 fans!

Also found both Southend’s, Manchester’s and Blackpool’s Vulcans. I have spotted about 16 Vulcans.

I would love to see Newark, Flixton, Cosford and Fleet Air Arm Museums from the air but they are all not clear yet.

I went on a Vulcan hunt and could only find the 8 below, and the blackpool one is no longer with us! what others did you find? Enlighten me!!

(What’s that white a/c just above them?)

I think it’s the HIDEC F-15, parked next to the HARV F/A-18. Down on South Base there’s the Scaled Composites AT-3, among many, many others.

Pearce Airport, just north of Perth, Western Australia. Looks like they are breaking up a DC-10 or a L-1011 or something like that. It’s hard to see what type exactly.

Try 38 53′ 13.79 N 9 01′ 59.34 W its in Portugal and has lots of interest.

Southend Airport is also good with the Vulcan & L29 Delphin. Viscount on the far side along with what looks like a nose section on its side.

There is a C130 on the runway at Warton, Concorde at Heathrow

Canberra on the dump at Filton

Something more modern look at Basra in Iraq and Bagram in Afghanistan

Canberra’s yes but I didn’t know of the B-57 variety, what are the single engined planes just a couple of hardstandings E of my pic ? ( I don’t know), also did you find the F-86 there.
P.S. I found the base just by looking in hi res areas not by any placemark, would that be in one of the layers ? I was ‘in the area’ looking at Poona/Pune, couldnt find any B-24’s their 😉

No idea on the single engine planes.. Yes I saw the Sabre. There is also another preserved B-57 on SE portion of the airfield. . There is also a Starfighter that can be seen pole mounted.

Reg Poona, LOL, lot of dissapointed folks there.. No B-24s, No Connies and No Tempests either.. though you can catch the Canberra (ramp guardian) and the MiG21 (on gateguardian duties)

Well I plotted that & thought Oh.. hes taken me to Duxford (it was in USA at start) & then it stopped & I thought a housing estate ! TYPO.
So I zoomed in just in case & WTF 😮 how did anybody find that, yep that’s a good one ,thanks Sean

I used to live right up the road in Alconbury in 1990-1991, that Lancaster is flying over nearby Huntingdon. Somebody posted this on the Google Earth forums and I thought you old guys over here might get a charge out of it 😀

I was just going to point that out myself 😀

You historic guys (forgot you lived here too 😀 ) should get a royal charge out of this:

52 20′ 11.00″ N 000 11′ 43.25″ W

Now tell me that’s not really damn cool 😎
