For all our Canadian Forumites

There is a new 4 part series starting tonight on History channel called Bomber boys.

Bomber Boys

Bomber Boys: The Fighting Lancaster bridges the generation gap and tells the story of the Lancaster crews and their critical role in the Second World War. Join History Television as we follow a group of young men who volunteer to re-live the wartime experiences of their grandfathers, who were members of the “Lucky H” aircrew. All are descendants of Canadian, British, Australian and American airmen.

Using a unique blend of living history elements, first-person interviews and never-before-seen World War Two colour footage, this dramatic four-part documentary series chronicles a new generation of “Bomber Boys” as they train to become a Lancaster Bomber crew.

As these young new recruits struggle to come to terms with 1940s discipline and values, we hear the harrowing anecdotes of the “real” Bomber Boys—the veterans who flew into the night skies over Occupied Europe to fight in some of the most significant battles of the war.

Witness the story of the amazing Bomber Boys, brought to audiences by Frantic Films, the producers of the History Television series, Pioneer Quest, Quest for the Bay, Klondike: The Quest for Gold and Quest for the Sea.

Airing November 7 – 10 at 8 pm/9 pm ET/PT.

Re:Bomber Boys

Well the first part was very well done! You really get a feeling of what they went through in their training. The air base is the old station at CFB Picton. It would make a really good memorial living history museum with all the intact buildings etc.

Peter,

It was a nicely done show. Thanks for the heads up! I especially enjoyed the aircrew commentary and footage of the 405 Squadron Lancs. I look forward to tomorrow nights episode.

Thanks for this thread Peter,

I don’t have this weeks TV Guide and would have been very disappointed to have missed it. Now I have to see if my old VCR still works !!

Cheers,
Chris
