I have just received my copy of Classic Wings and in it their is a small article (and a photo of a new tail cone/fin uint) on the work of Alec Wilson and his team at Wangarattta (not Murray Griffiths’ Precision Aerospace) on the construction of various Spitfire parts for Alec’s collection of 5 MK VIII’s and 2 MK. V’s.
The ID’s of the Spitfires have been confirmed via Peter Arnold who is called ‘The Pope’ at “The Vatican @ Newport Pagnell”
I can only readillty identify 1 of these Spitfires (MK VIII MD338) can anyone consult their Access DB’s or Excel Spreadsheets and provide the others?
Alternatively, if someone is in the area of Newport Pagnell’ and can obtain and Audiance, prehaps they can kiss the ‘Firing Button ring’ on his hand.. so that “Pope Peter MK XII’ could provide the ID’s for us?

I would request that Pope Peter (mk) XII consult his higher council and if necessarily go into self-imposed confiment for mediation and thought, and with any luck he will receive a ‘Vision’ and so lead us to our enlightlement
here endeth the lesson

Thin but robust.
I have not seen the article.
You could add JG484 to the Alec Wilson collection. It is the only instance I have seen of the RAF serial stencilled on the upper firewall. The previous owner was completely oblivious of the ID until I removed the filter and fitting brackets.
If I commented on the further VIII and two Mk. V’s I would only be speculating, so I will consult with the bishops first.

Ben
Unless I missed something on the archive (thanks for it anyway!) It only reveals
3 ID’s for the MK VIIIs: MT682, MD338 and LV750
That still leaves 2 Mk VIIIs and 2 Mk V’s outstanding!

Did you try a search in the forum archives?
