Breaking news update..!

Lancaster FM212 that was taken down in Windsor Ontario and placed in a Temporary building is to be restored as a MKX Bomber not a post war MKXP aircraft.

Although saddened by this decision by the powers that be, I do wish them well in a difficult restoration.
Does anyone have a set of front and rear turrets for the project……?

Hello Ant. I am not sure at present there have been some temporary wooden repairs made so that it is safer to walk through. I will try and find out more…

Thanks for the update Peter. I agree it’s a shame she won’t be kept in post-war config, but I suppose it was inevitable that she’d be restored as a bomber. I’m just glad that such positive action has been taken to preserve her,no matter how she’s finished she’ll be an absolute gem.
Do you happen to know how the team plan to go about repairing the centre-section mainspars and bomb-bay area? I’ve seen some pictures of the damage the cutting torch and corrosion has done in that area, and it looks like one hell of a repair job. Will the spars have to be replaced??
