Vasteras flygmuseum-any info anyone?

Afternoon all,

Has anyone visited this museum recently and/or got any info? I’m potentially going at the end of October.

Cheers,

J man

Here are individual shots of the two Viggens that you enquired about:

I photographed everything that was there in August – anything in particular you’d like me to post a view of ? Here’s an overview with the ex RAF Pembroke in the foregound – you’ll see the TWO Viggens are in the very rear of shot – one Viggen is part sectioned to show its construction.

Vasteras

You’ll find my Miles Falcon G-AEEG in pride of place in the museum. I plan to go and get it in the Spring.

The Falcon has a very important Swedish history, from 1936-1961. It was based at Vasteras for while during WW2 as a ‘light transport’ which is code for ‘officers plaything’ if the stories are true!

It is therefore spending its 70th year at ‘home’.

Enjoy your visit to the Museum – see if you can get to grips with that ruddy model plane simulator there…..!

All the best

There were still two Viggens there when I visited in June 2006.

Could anyone confirm the number of Viggens on display at the Museum please. At the time of my last visit there were 2 including the 2nd Prototype. The website now only shows one.

Any news on this years airshow date as well as Satenas’ would be most welcome also.

Stockholm Arlanda museum

Just to update above, i may also be visiting Arlanda. According to various net sources the museum is closed until further notice. Is this still true?

Cheers,

J man
