Hi folks, just been onto google earth and managed to find a vulcan at Barksdale AFB in America! Also, there’s a stratotanker, b25, mustang, kc135 and about 43 B52’s! (not in the museum bit!)

Beautiful Brit Bird!!
I was pleasantly surprised to see this plane while visiting Bossier City for a wedding in June ’04. The weather wasn’t quite right for perfect pictures, but these aren’t too bad. I’d like to see her and the rest of the collection under cover to protect them from the Louisianna heat and humidity.
The Vulcan is a gorgeous bomber.
It looks like an oversized fighter.
Nice Pictures.
Thanks.

Interesting comparing the MiG-21 to the T-Bird for size as well.

That camouflage doesn’t work so good…
Flood
Flood, you’re quite right about the camo. I went there in ’03 and she was a bit rough around the edges, from sitting outside. I would reccomend that you look at the one at th SAC museum near Omaha, Nebraska as its inside the museum. On a side note Barksdale AFB is the home of the 8th Airforce, and the home of the 8th Airforce museum.

Anyone note the MiG-21 off the left wing of the B-52?
I recently did a similar search of Davis-Monthan in Tucson….from the stellite photos you can see Many B-52s (some cut up under a US-USSR (pre-Russia) arms treaty..they had to lie there for a stated period to allow recon photos)…Phantoms, KC-135s, A-10s, P-3s and lots of C-141s. Interesting shots of the area scrap yards too.
To find the base, pull up Tucson and search the SE part of the city.
