I usually stick this in the General Aviation Forum but thought I’d ask here this time.
September 18th is the Vintage Aircraft Club’s Vintage & Classic day with a fly-in and displays of vintage & classic cars, motorcycles, tractors and other vehicles at Turweston. (Famed for their bacon buns)
This event will also be our (the VAC’s) return to Turweston for a full event following the trouble with the planning permissions last year. I understand that AVDC will be there taking noise readings.
Come and help us return to TW in style!
It is free by road – all that is asked is a donation at the “gate”
Arrivals by air are I believe 8 (GBP) for non-members and a reduction for members.
For those coming by road be aware that there is apparently a leg of the British Touring Cars Championship taking place at Silverstone.
Anyone going to be there? I know that myself and “oag” will be there “working”

How many Swallows and Swifts overtook you on climbout then 😀
You’re not kidding. The Luton’s the only aeroplane I know where you have a risk of birdstrikes from behind!
Still it was gorgeous hour and ten minute flight back to Bicester. Too nice a night to hurry!

I was farting 😉

I liked the way Melv’s prop went around as he tried to start – looked like it was on an electric motor just for show just like a toy… And she is a really quiet when running…
Think most noise comes from the inside 😀

Caught me at full power – that’s why!

We were joining downwind as you were taking off so I called to say hello (in strict radio parlance of course) and you had trouble hearing. Never mind.

Sorry – it was you was it? Combination of thundering VW horsepower, inadequate cloth helmet and icom adds a new dimension to ‘line of sight’ radio communications!
But as ‘Arfur’ says: “If they won’t let you use a phone and drive, why should you have to use a radio and fly?”

Gasml
We did try and have a chat when you were leaving Popham, but you couldnt hear us over the roar of your engine 🙂
By: GASML - 20th September 2005 at 11:38
Many thanks and congratulations to all at the VAC for a great day.
Sorry Arfur and I disappeared early, but we were ‘double booked’ with the Popham fly in too. Thankfully the clag over Oxford had lifted and we wound up with the perfect afternoon of flying and ‘chopsing’ at both airfields!

It was odd there I was waiting to walk the Kitten out and this orange aeronautical carriage taxis past and I’m being waved at by all on board!!!! Cracking shots there Nick from the trip back.
We arm waved the arm waver!

I on behalf of the VAC committe and of course the arm waving team would also like to express our thanks to all those who managed to beat the weather and land at TW.
For the record unofficially at this time we had 109 aircraft actually make it in.
Was a real pleasure to have met a few more people from the forum.

I don’t know the results from the sound monitoring but thanks to all who kept it down 😉 on the way out.

Glad the weather was better to the west. We were stuck at NW most of the day with a cloudbase 0f 700-1000 feet. Managed to get as far as Bovingdon by 4.30 when the cloud lifted a bit, but too late then to complete the trip. Most frustrating day as the forecast was cloud at 3500 feet and 30Km viz. But that’s flying!

Some of us were thwarted by low cloud on the Chiltern ridge, which obscured the top of the mast at Stokenchurch (M40 Cutting).
The Tiger (G-ANFM) and others seemed to have made it, but others, including a Stampe and a Zlin returned to White Waltham. To the south, you could see 50 miles!
