I’ve not been IT since School, so it’s a small comfort.

Well Mk 12

It’s just that there’s no Spitfires left to shop for so I have to slum it with the rest of the fighters.

Corsairs, and now Mustangs, in NZ.

Are you compiling a register or making a shopping list?

What do YOU do? ๐Ÿ˜‰

John,
AFIK there are four essentially complete Mustangs in NZ.

The one at Wanaka has a second seat but no controls. Its ‘number’ history is : NA111-36229, 44-13016, A68-674, VH-CVA reserved but ntu, N9002N, N9200N, N5551D (as โ€˜44-73683โ€™ later โ€˜44-13016/LH-Xโ€™), now ZK-SAS painted as ‘Dove of Peace’/โ€˜44-13016/LH-Xโ€™.

Graham Bethels’ one at Auckland also has a second seat and no controls. Its ‘nunber history’ is:NA122-41369, 44-74829, RCAF 9265, N8675E, N169M, N169MD, N769MD, NL769MD, now ZK-TAF painted as โ€˜NZ2415โ€™, โ€˜TIG8โ€™ and โ€˜KM272/QV.Vโ€™ at various times.

John Smiths one is stock and was NA124-48266, 45-11513, NZ2423.

The Air Force Museum in Christchurch has NA122-41367, 44-74827, 72-1415, F367 (TNI-AU) painted as โ€˜NZ2410โ€™.

There are also some substantial components from various ex RNZAF aircraft around.

ZK-PLI (NA122-41463, 44-73420, N7722C (as โ€˜44-73420/524/Miss Torqueโ€™), ZK-PLI (painted at various times as โ€˜44-73420/524/Miss Torqueโ€™, โ€˜44-13573/B6-Bโ€™ and โ€˜2002/WO-W & OW-Wโ€™) returned to the US as N7722C recently and Kermit Weeks and Maurice Hammond have ex Kiwi airframes (painted as ‘Cripes o Mighty III’ and ‘Janie’ respectively).

John

Wanaka one has a second seat but isn’t TF , same with the Bethell aircraft I think.
John Smith has one with outer wings torched off in his shed ( has another set of wings as well he said)

Dave

p.s. Sounds like you need to get the Warbirds Directory CD..a great source of info, although there are a lot of mistakes as well..which is to be expected I suppose
