Have been looking for Spitfire Ace on DVD, but is only available in book format. Does anyone know if it will be released on DVD? My Dad is a war fanatic and we have already exhausted the local shopping mall!
Any suggestions would be great!

I think there would have also been lots of insurance implications even if she had been game for it to have happened

JägerMarty It’s a shame the young fella didn’t take the old fella up at the end, but Mrs Grace probably wanted someone with more than 9hrs at the stick, fair enough I spose

You got here first Marty, I came to find the thread.
Me too Marty 😉 , where you at!! .
Magic Magic stuff.
I too was hungry for more flying too mate!.
My copy now all done, is a bit dodgy, but it will sure do me 😎 .
Already watched the first 3 about 4 time’s over.
Just I too must agree, on the Vet’s, They are all just AMAZING old warrior’s 😮 .
Looking and hearing many of the Vet’s on the program, and after reading about them all in so many of my book’s.
I felt really strange suddenly, getting flashe’s of them all as young men, flying and in Battle with the like’s of Bader or Salior Malan and so on, and even shock horror, Galland and his lad’s.
To the ” The Knight’s of the sky ” , sad day’s ahead when all you amazing living legend’s leave us forever 🙁 .
And yes, even if I don’t like to admit to again, I THINK I HAVE A VERY VERY BAD CASE OF SPITITIS, AGAIN!!!! 😮
BUGGER!!!! 🙁
Lest ve forget
(P.s) Mr Rio, himself Peter Allen(Seavixen),
Look’s at me from a picture he sent me above my computer, standing under the nose in front of that VERY 2 seat Spitfire seen in the program, holding one of it four bladed prop’s, the lucky sod 😀 .
Think he’s got a thing for the pilot owner TOO!! :p
Equal billing for these three mug’s, they all had a job to do, and like Nike, JUST DID IT!!

Just watched the final of this program, was a shame not to see more of the young fella’s flying.
But what was just brilliant were the interviews with the veterans. They really are awe-inspiring. Even at their age they just radiate this air of elegance and understatedness the way they recall their memories for the camera. They really are wonderful people, just never ceases to amaze me.
And the final part where they take up a BoB vet in the 2-seat spitfire for a flight and victory-roll, just beautiful 🙂

Spitfire Ace on DVD ! ABC Store web address????
The program has been running for the last two months here in the USA on History Channel International, the outstanding four part series is one of the best I have ever seen. Its production is outstanding and a great concept to show how little training a WWII RAF pilot had ( about 9 hours in a Spit) before going on operational duty during the Battle Of Britain. Setter…what is the web address of this ABC store you speak of ? Been buying many military aviation titles from Australia on ebay and have enjoyed them. Get a region free DVD players and it opens up a whole new world for those of us who collect military documentaries. Two of the best documentaries are the 2004 BBC production “D-Day 6-6-44” and Britain’s Channel 4 60th anniversary of the Dams Raid by 617th Sq. I know that Channel 4 did the same concept program for a RAF Bomber Crew in Bomber Command. Showing what training a crew under took for its training. Have not seen this program in the USA yet. Perhaps is coming to the History Channel soon. I take it that this is a chain store in Australia?
Thanks !

Hi Phill
and all………………….
The DVD will be obtainable from our ABC shops – no doubt for an extortionate amount of money at the end of the screening in about a month according to the rude ABC lady I just rang .
