Bf109 part number

Thanks for your ideas chaps. I’ve posted this on a few forums so I’m hoping someone will have the info needed.

All the materials in the 1200 range are a Chrome Manganese Steel. 1205 is not listed however. My book starts with 1207.

My reason for the supposition is that I have seen 3115.4 (similar to 2024) stamped on many aluminium castings.

Not magnesium, mag spec nos are between 3500 and 3599.9 according to the LDV558 repair manual

i think 205.4 may be is 1205.4 – magnesium?

Sorry can’t help with this one I think the pt nos is R8-109.909.0205.4 I don’t believe the 205.4 is the metal spec I could not find it in the repair manual I have, this book seems to list all the materials used in 109 construction. You need to find somebody with a 109e parts manual.

Looks like incomplete part number syndrome…!

The number underneath could well refer to the material from which it is made. This is not uncommon on German aircraft.

Do you have any other bits that might relate to it?

Here is a close-up of the bit in question, which came from a Bf109E-4 shot down during the Battle of Britain.

Just gone thru 109f/g parts manuals number not there but there are some 109.909 nos they relate to armament bits ie canon cover parts and machine gun blast tube parts Have you a piccy I could see of said item.

109 is the aircraft number (you knew that!)

909 is a sub assembly number. Numbers in the 9’s are often armament or electrical related.

0 suggests it is a complete sub assembly.

That doesnt tell you much really!
