😀 The horrible dutch summer was brigtened today by my flight in the PBY Catalina from the neptune association, based at the Aviodrome museum in Lelystad.
Absolutely fantastic event, that I shared with my father, who instilled the aviation bug in me as a kid.
We made a splash and go on the Ijsselmeer, and boy, that aluminum skin really puts your bum on the water…, have a look at
last pic shows me with my dad on the right and a East Indies Veteran Catalina gunner, one of a few veterand that were aboard this flight.
Pilots were Bart Sier, KLM pilot and Chuck Elsworth, a 67 year Canadian, and one of the most experienced catalina pilots around..
FANTASTIC 😀

Last we heard on this Forum was that this Catalina was grounded with engine probems and could not get to Legends at Duxford. Good to see it flying again!

Wow what a great experience! – You were in good hands with Chuck!
I’ve only had one water landing so far at Jack Browns seaplane base I was amazed how quickly you stop after hitting the water!! 😮
great pics!
