The sound of freedom – Four Merlins in perfect harmony.

Beats the sound of four radials any day

Unless it’s a Halifax BIII 😀

Dateline Lea, 10 miles from Lyneham, 1500 hrs approx, Sunday 14 August…….

Out in the garden having a barbeque – when over flies the Lanc at 500 feet – heading ENE – presumably heading back from Cardiff to Scampton ??

Spit and Hurricane flying high cover…..

She’s also scheduled for BLenheim Festival of FLight on Sunday (tomorrow). If you didn’t see or hear her going into Lyneham she probably went into Brize

Speaking of Lancasters – and of my interest in Soviet/Russian aviation – did you know that the Soviets operated two ex-9 (or 617) Sqn Lancs during WWII ??

Ken

Hi Ken,

Yes, they did, there are still rumours circulating that the remains of one of these Lancs are still around in Russia. Time will tell.

Cheers

Where is ‘our house’ ???

I live within 10 miles of Lyneham – ‘I’ll keep an eye (and an ear) out for it.

I can’t see any balloons out west (the Bristol Balloon Fest is on)…………

they must all be blowing south east.
