Out in the garden having a barbeque – when over flies the Lanc at 500 feet – heading ENE – presumably heading back from Cardiff to Scampton ??

Speaking of Lancasters – and of my interest in Soviet/Russian aviation – did you know that the Soviets operated two ex-9 (or 617) Sqn Lancs during WWII ??

Yes, they did, there are still rumours circulating that the remains of one of these Lancs are still around in Russia. Time will tell.

I live within 10 miles of Lyneham – ‘I’ll keep an eye (and an ear) out for it.
I can’t see any balloons out west (the Bristol Balloon Fest is on)…………
they must all be blowing south east.
