A friend of my Dad’s was the Navigator on Lancaster ND585 of 106 Sqn from RAF Metheringham lost on the night of 30/31st march 1944 on the infamous Nuremburg raid.
Can anyone advise if any particular Luftwaffe pilot/crew claimed its loss pleasae.
We have all the details but this fact.
Thanks

There’s an excllent series of books concentrating on particular RAF bombing raids by Martin Middlebrook, published in paperback by Cassel. Each one has an extensive appendix giving various statistics, including Luftwaffe claims and RAF losses, tied up where possible. I own a copy of “The Nuremburg Raid”,but I’ve recently moved and it’s in deep storage so I can’t look anything up for you. I hope this pointer will be of some use though.
Like all the books in the series it’s a very good read,I’m half-way through “The Battle of Hamburg” at the moment.
