RAF Jetstream's XX493 & XX498

Sadly no longer suitable for the Modern Military forum, the partial remains of two RAF Jetstreams arrived in a scrap yard in Stafford this afternoon. One had a partial code ‘…93’, the other ‘…498’ and an ‘F’ on the port side of the fin.

They are likely to be even more partial by the end of today 🙁

Identified from http://www.airsceneuk.org.uk/hangar/2004/jetstream/jetstream.htm, these are ex-Cranwell ‘dump’.

A/c on left in photo is (was) XX498

Have Everett’s sold XX475? The only one on their site is XX499.

The DERA T.2 looks in remarkable condition. That is a museum piece waiting to happen. Does anyone know if the Uruguay Navy examples are still operating?

Hi All,

As far as I am aware all the RAF Jetstreams T.1s offered for disposal/sale by tender that have not been scrapped have indeed gone to EverettAero

This also includes the ex DERA West Freugh and Boscombe Down T.2 XX475, which has not been stripped for spares.

Cheers

Afternoon,

Cheers for the info. It’s sad to see. I’m a bit surprised that more haven’t escaped to other museums.

I noticed the other day from the air that there are a few ex-RAF Jetstreams in Dick Everett’s garden near Ipswich..together with lots of other ex-military bits and pieces.

Yes, they are currently moving a lot from Culdrose and Boscombe. 🙂
