Whats all that about then..I thought it was underway?

Hi Tony, the aerodrome have a stash of stickers – either give them a bell on 01604 491112 or grab one from The Aviator reception –
All the best

sounds like what happened when stapleford wanted to lay their ashphalt ‘starter strip’ the outcry was silly….. mind you they got it…. and im glad they did…. makes the airfield more viable from a business point of view and we still get to retain a genuine war time field rather than build houses on it. wha made us giggle is that with the starter strip a/c were able to have shorter take off runs and were then higher over the village that was complaining…….. anyway ramble over…. off to bed!

…drat always forget the ‘alleged bit’, thats probably why Wellingborough has a greater percentage of successful prosecutions than Nuremberg….
…and why at least two of us live in the posh part of Northants (Irthlingborough) 🙂
TT, as for the stickers, are these also available to existing members?
Must admit I haven’t been up to the Airfield for a few months so will have go up either this or next weekend.

Your point is well made, I have that sign up in my office at work….still they’re only criminal clients…

best way to counter this is to join The Friends of Sywell Aerodrome for a mere Fiver for lifetime membership, you get your own car sticker which reads something like – ‘we want a hard runway so shove it up your bottom’ or something similar – PM me and will send you a form!

Such a great loss to the diplomatic service, TT!

Thats onr thing that really P!sses me off
people who move next to or close to an airport or airfield then complain about the noise.
I’d love to live backing on to an airport, one of the best complaints I have heard was regarding Southend Airport,It was about 5 years ago but it was something like:
A couple of OAPs were having a rant about Southend Airport, when they were asked when they moved in to thier house 10years ago was the reply to which they were asked why did you move next to the airport you must have known it was there,
they replyed yes of cause we knew it was there but if we knew they were going to invent jets we would never have moved in as it was only props then…
at this point they had to call an ambualnce for me as I lay on the floor splitting my sides laughing.
Another thing that get to me is the people who complain about aircraft passing over thier homes then they go off to another airport ond fly off them selfs,
when ever you ask one of these if they fly to go on holidsay they change the subject or walk off trust me go and try it!

Won’t bore you here with all the shenanigans going on between Sywell, the local nimbys and delays from a council planning office which seems only really geared to telling people where they can put their garden sheds.
TT covers a lot of that on his Friends of Sywell Aerodrome thread http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=45736
I haven’t seen this sticker, but it sounds like its a further ploy from said nimbys to create more confusion after the Friends of Sywell produced a series of stickers saying ‘Yes to Sywell’s Safer Runway’ or words to that effect.
I guess its a reminder that once again we can’t take our airfields for granted. Only this week, Turweston has a planning appeal upon which the future of Vintage Aircraft Club events hinges, Wellesbourne has a developer planning an office block adjacent to its runway threshold http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=46094 and of course the axe is still poised over North Weald!
