Last year I said Sandown was superb and the best show of 2004. This one was even better.
Awesome displays were put on by every single pilot at the show on Sunday.
For the first time in a few years I went to a show completely in the dark about what was going to display, and I wasn’t disappointed.
The show attracted a vast selection of WWII-era aircraft, and thankfully it didn’t get affected by the weather.
Onto the pix…
The Aircraft Restoration Company/Historic Flying brought along these two beauties…

The familiar Old Flying Machine Company pair of Mustang and Spitfire…

Dick Steele, the owner of Sandown Airfield and organiser of the show’s lovely N3N trainer, the only example flying outside of the USA.
The pilot looks familiar too… 🙂

Great shots Strinbag, its good to see that the Warbirds were booked from a host of operators.
Did the OFMC Spit/P51 duo display to music, as that’s what OFMC were trying to promote early in the season.

Some take-off shots, and the odd flying portrait….
An excellent pairs display followed this take-off of Jungmann and Jungmeister…
Rob Davies and Maurice Harvard rasp these two machines into the air…
The N3N again…
‘Black’ – The Real Aeroplane Company’s Hurricane.
Unfortunately ‘Susy’ the P-51D was weathered in at Sywell.
The Fighter Collection sent several warbirds, this P-40 put on a ‘super display.’
…and they also sent their rare Curtiss Hawk 75, flown by Stephen Grey.
The Jungmeister driver gives us a wave…
Peter Teichman put the Spitfire XI through an excellent routine….
Charlie Brown lifts off in the Historic Aircraft Collection Spitfire V.
Another rasper was the Beaver from the Army Historic Flight…
There were a few Chippies in attendance, this one belongs to the Army Historic Flight.
When I first saw the Chippies on arrival I immediately thought of Steve Young.
I never met him, but as indicated so clearly on this board the aviation community is certainly the poorer with his passing.
Hope the pix are OK, more can be seen here.
