Breighton Saturday.. photos

Very nice selection of aircraft (historic or otherwise) on show today, the weather was kind too, even got a bit of sun at times 🙂

Great pictures Gareth. I was at Breighton on Saturday – hard to pic my favourite moment as I just love the atmosphere there (hated those fast food vans with their noisy generators – but nice when the sound of merlins drowned them out!). Even with the (much apologised for) price increase it was still worth every penny. Shame I could not make it on Sunday and see the Buchon running but maybe next time.

Very nice shot of the Sokol – a rare machine indeed.

I think that I’m right in saying that the canopy shapes were slightly different depending on which production plant the aircraft were built. There’s actually not a lot of headroom in the back of ‘Susy’ – my headset touched the top if I leant back at all – and I’m only 5 foot 6!

Nice pix Gareth, good to see you yesterday – hope that the weather holds out today!

Good question Ant, don’t know the answer but I’m sure someone else around here is bound to 🙂 Must get more difficult to close as the speed increases.

What surprises me is the variation in the shape of the canopy, Susy’s is quite different to the one fitted to Janie, wonder if its a mod to allow more head room in the back or if its simply a case of variation in the manufacturing process?

Gorgeous shots Gareth, love the Susy take-off shot in particular. Slightly anoraky question, but what’s the maximum speed you can have the teardrop canopy open on a Mustang?
