Just heard that the Dutch airworthy DC-2 (that just returned to flying status after in-depth maintenance) had a collapse of the left landing-gear while taxiing at Den Helder airport where it had arrived prior to tomorrow’s airshow. Damage is apparently light, consisting of damage to the propeller and wing-tip (and landing-gear I assume). Hope it is back in the air soon.

It’s the only flying DC-2 at the moment… the newspaper also said that if the Aviodrome wouldn’t find a proper propellor for the ‘Uiver’ there’s a chance she’ll be on the ground for a longer period…. as manufacturing a prop is an unwanted expensive option.

Owch.
Trust that the damage isn’t too bad. It’s an all too rare a/c. Are there any other airworthy DC-2s at the moment?
Fingers crossed for them.

Painful sight 🙁
I hope they get it fixed soon. Good thing it didn’t happen during landing or take-off!!!
