Need help with US trainers US sold to Chile in 1970's

I was tempted to post this in the South America thread but y’all seem to have your ducks in a row, so I chose this area instead.
***
A dear friend of mine who’s father learned to fly with the Air Force in Chili died when she was very, very young and I am trying to narrow down the aircraft he trained in as a gift for her.
***
I’m guessing it was probably the T-33, but would really like some opinions with more knowledge than my own. Anyone know of other US training aircraft sold to that country during the late 60’s to early 70’s?
***
Any and ALL help is graciously appreciated! Thanks & Blue Skies to All!

????

(…)
In anycase my big blue book on “World Airforces Inventories” published in 1988 suggests the Chilian Air force then consisted of the following aircraft engaged in some form of “trainer” role:

28 x Cessna A-37 (light attack & training) – being superceded
20 x Cessna T-37B/C (trainer)
8 x Cessna T41 Mescalero (trainer)

These were all? due to be replaced by Embraer EMB Tucano’s, Halcons and Aviojets

already in service were:
80 x ENAER T-36 Halcon (basic/aerobatic/Instrument trainer)
26 x CASA Aviojet (trainer)
32 x Hawker Hunter (fighter bomber/trainer)
15 x Northrup(SIC) F5E Tiger II (interceptor/trainer)
10x Piper PA-28 Dakota (trainer)
5x Pitts S-2A Special
1x Sequoia Falco (trainer)
😮

Navy

10x Pilatus PC-7(turbo trainer)

Army
16-18? x Cessna R172 Hawk (trainer)

(…)

In the 60s and 70’s Chile operated the following trainers:
Cessna T-37B/C
Beech 45 (T-34) by both FACh and Navy
Lockheed T-33A
N.A. T-6
Beech 99A (navigation trainers)
Cessna T-41

The T-6s were retired in 1979, T-33s by 1974, T-37s in 1998, T-34s in 1987 (in the Navy were phased out service in 1980), and T-41s were retired in 1981. The Beech 99s were retrofitted for ASW tasks.
The current aircraft list is as follows:
ENAER T-35 Pillan
ENAER (CASA) C-101/A/T-36 Halcon
Piper (ENAER) PA-28-236 Dakota
the Navy has 6 PC-7s and Army has four Cessna R172K Hawk XP IIs

The Pitts S2A/S were flown by Escuadrilla de Alta Acrobacia Halcones :p , being replaced by 1990 by the Extra 300s. The Falco F-8 was assembled by ENAER after request of a private operator.

NO Tucanos have been bought, and the Aviojet/Halcon is the SAME aircraft… 😡

Chilean Air Force Museum

FIVE Pitts Specials???

I know they had some other nice toys too, but I have a thing for those looping powerhouses…*sigh*

(recalls how many she got drunk, flirted with, begged, bribed, ego stroked, and bought good scotch for but she STILL can’t get a Pitts pilot to let her fall out on purpose!) :diablo:

Taken January 2003. They also have a further Pitts inverted high up in the entrance atrium.

Hi Fallen, I bet men are “fallen” for you all the time 😀

In anycase my big blue book on “World Airforces Inventories” published in 1988 suggests the Chilian Air force then consisted of the following aircraft engaged in some form of “trainer” role:

28 x Cessna A-37 (light attack & training) – being superceded

These were all? due to be replaced by Embraer EMB Tucano’s, Halcons and Aviojets

already in service were:

26 x CASA Aviojet (trainer)
32 x Hawker Hunter (fighter bomber/trainer)
15 x Northrup F5E Tiger II (interceptor/trainer)
10x Piper PA-28 Dakota (trainer)
5x Pitts S-2A Special
1x Sequoia Falco (trainer)

Navy

10x Pilatus PC-7(turbo trainer)

Army
16-18? x Cessna R172 Hawk (trainer)

No mention of T6 etc left on inventory or recently retired as of 1988?? I have another book which identified Chile originally had 19 x T6G from the COIN and MDA grant programs, I havent got any independ source for T-33’s or T-34s? to know if Chile every had any but assume both these types had already been replaced by the T41 and T37s in anycase as no qty of T6/T33/T34 are reported in any form in the big blue book as still hanging around. (which is reported in the book where that occurs in other airforces)

so I guess the A-37 and T-37 are the most likely unless you know more about the type of training?? hope this helps
