Today, whilst indulging in my other pastime of Autograss racing,we were having the drivers briefing at about midday,at the Darley Moor Raceway, just south of Ashbourne in Derbyshire.(On the old airfield.)
About 5 minutes after it had finished,I heard the distinct sound of a lone Merlin in the distance.Suddenly,we were graced with a single Spitfire, but it was too high to identify it.Hopefully someone can enlighten me.
Then if that wasn’t enough, about 10 minutes afterwards, the sound of 4 merlins became apparent, and there above us,was the old girl herself,PA474,flying at about 1000 feet I’d say.
Talk about a kid in a sweetshop!!!! 😀 😀 😀
Because I can’t be bothered to look it up,can anyone say where these 2 had been/going?

Many thanks,my curiosity is now satisfied.
What was funny though,is that when PA474 flew over,(My personal favourite 😀 ) people must have thought I was on something illicit,as I was running around like a headless chicken. 😮

Nearly…
Both ac en-route to East Midlands after displaying on the Mersey (vice Liverpool JL due to cross-wind issues). Spit normally at 2500′, Lanc was at 1000′.
Then to Cosford.
